With its 114 rooms and 8 kivas, Spruce Tree House is the third largest cliff
dwelling in the Park, and was one of the best preserved when discovered because
it is very well sheltered from the elements. It housed about 125–150 people,
and there is a good spring located just a few hundred feet away at the head of the
canyon. It is an easy walk from the fascinating Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum,
which in addition to Spruce Tree House, is open year-round.
