My trip to the Canadian Rockies

Welcome! My name is Michael Moir. I spent 10 glorious days in and around Banff and Jasper in late August 2000. Read an overview of my trip itinerary here. Both Banff and Jasper National Parks are in the province of Alberta; Yoho and Kootenay are in British Columbia. In fact, the border between the two provinces in this region lies on the Continental Divide. It is 80 miles (128km) from Calgary to the Banff townsite, 36 miles (58km) from Banff to Lake Louise and 180 miles (291km) from Banff to the town of Jasper.

You can see some spectacular sights right from your vehicle, or get even closer by hiking, mountain biking, river rafting or any other of unlimited outdoor activities. I highly recommend visiting this truly awesome area to everyone.
