About 12 miles outside of Aspen, the Maroon Bells is a hugely popular recreation area.
There are only three tiny campgrounds on the Maroon Creek Road, with a total of just
two dozen sites. I lucked into a great site without a reservation, but you may be
disappointed if you take your chances. This view of the twin Maroon Bells is probably the most recognizable mountain scene in the state of Colorado. |
