Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park The path to the Fountain Paint Pots will take you past four different types of thermal features: mudpots like these, geysers, hot springs, and fumaroles (which are simply steam vents.)

The area is alive with the sounds of the boiling and burping pots, gurgling geysers, and hissing vents. The air smells strongly of rotten eggs from all the sulphur, so I tried to avoid standing directly in the steam.
