Newspaper Rock State Historical Monument
	This sun-baked sandstone wall was covered over the distant ages by desert varnish (a thin, dark layer of manganese oxide). Over the last 1000 years or so, petroglyphs have been etched here by three distinct groups: Ancestral Puebloans, early Utes, and Europeans.
