Located in Fewkes Canyon, New Fire House is comprised of approximately
20 rooms and 3 kivas, constructed on two separate ledges. The upper level
was accessed by ladder and a connecting hand-and-toe hold trial.
Paintings found here are similar to ones found in some Hopi kivas
relating to the “New Fire” ceremonials. This is one example of the
many associations archeologists draw from present-day Indians of the
Southwest in learning about the Ancestral Puebloans.
