Cliff Palace
	Although Balcony House was discovered earlier, rancher Richard Wetherill found Cliff Palace in 1888. He and others plundered the Mesa Verde ruins of their artifacts and lead sightseeing tours in subsequent years. Through the efforts of concerned individuals including Virginia McClurg, the area was finally declared a National Park, and therefore protected, in 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt.
