It was early June, and I was stopped short of the top on both roads due to impassible snow, which would likely not have melted for at least a couple more weeks.

The area around Leadville also offers a wealth of high-country four wheel drive
roads. I tried two that start from the Turquoise Lake loop road: Hagerman Pass,
and the Bear Lake road. It was early June, and I was stopped short of the top on both roads due to impassible snow, which would likely not have melted for at least a couple more weeks. |
