Up above the Lakeview campground is the Mt. Elbert Forebay. This reservoir was created as part
of a larger project that diverts water from the Fryingpan and Roaring Fork Rivers on the western
slope, to the Arkansas River on the eastern slope. The forebay is fed by Turquoise Lake, and in
turn feeds the hydroelectric power plant on Twin Lakes.
Parry Peak (12,682') is on the far left, and Mt. Elbert (14,433') is on the right.
