The eighteen mile long South Rim Drive ends here at spectacular Spider Rock overlook.
The 800 foot tall sandstone monolith is an awesome sight, and holds special significance to
the Diné (Navajo people).
According to legend, Spider Woman lives on top.
She not only taught the people how to weave, but also enforces obedience in children.
They are told that if they do not behave, Spider Woman will carry them away to be eaten.
The top of Spider Rock is supposedly white because of the bones of children.
