Pueblo Bonito from South Mesa
Pueblo Bonito from South Mesa This view of Pueblo Bonito shows the damage caused when a massive slab of rock broke off the canyon wall in 1941, destroying about 30 previously excavated rooms. The Navajo name for it is Sa-bah-ohn-nee meaning “house where the rocks are propped up”, because the Chacoans had built earthen and masonry supports to help prevent it from falling.
