A sheer cliff wall towers above one of the many orchards in Fruita. The area
was settled by Mormon pioneers in the late 1800’s, who established many orchards
primarily of apples, apricots, cherries, peaches and pears. Today, they are tended
to by the park service, and visitors are encouraged to eat as much as they like
while visiting. I was happy to find many delicious varieties of apples and pears
ready for my picking.
