Sand Canyon is a widely recommended hike in the area. I started from the south end, and hiked up just more than a mile before turing back. The sandstone formations are spectacular, and there are a large number of cliff dwellings to see in the area. I found the temperature very pleasant, and the plant life in full bloom during my visit in late May.
