Lake Minnewanka
Lake Minnewanka
Minnewanka is the largest lake in Banff Park, and the only one on which motor boats are permitted. Technically a reservoir, it was first created in 1912 when the lake was dammed to generate electricity. The dam was enlarged twice in 1922 and again in 1941, when a much larger hydroelectric generating plant was constructed. This photo looks east and highlights Mount Inglismaldie.
