Athabasca Glacier

Here you see the “toe” of Athabasca Glacier. The glacier flows slowly downhill from its source in the Columbia Icefield far above, yet is retreating more quickly due to reduced snowfall and melting. This trend has been true for most of the last century during which time the glacier has retreated almost a mile to its present location.
